Maybe happiness it this: not feeling like you should be elsewhere, doing something else, being someone else...

Christmas Post

I got into the office this morning and was greeted by a pretty Christmas gift! My African violet finally decided to bloom over the Christmas weekend!!! (The last flowers were seen in August, so you can imagine my joy)

Well, the long Christmas weekend (made longer by taking leave on wed) was wonderfully packed with yummy food, lovely people and great fun. Hope you guys had a great Christmas too.

Sadly, I forgot to bring out my camera on Christamas day, and most of the other photos I took turned out blurry, so i don't have that many photos to share... but hope you enjoy the rest.

Ben Quah and Ben Chong's Austin Powers Themed party. All those who did not come dressed in the theme had silly stuff drawn on their faces. It was laugh! Mr Kwek won best dressed!

Fi's Mask&Red Christmas party. The annual feast of Lamb and Chicken wings!
Welcome to the family Mr Kwek.

The office Christmas party. I made banana cupcakes!

Whizz Through the Weekend

After a really tough week at work, I had a wonderful weekend. I guess the world is fair :)

Wakeboarding was a really cold experience as it started raining halfway though and I didn't get my tan. But it was still loads of fun. Most people don't understand why we enjoy being pulled behind a speeding boat and drinking buckets of seawater, but the rush is just amazing. Can't wait till we go again!

As a run up to the Christmas season, there was also caroling at Mr Kwek's church and his family Christmas gathering. I also went to get my haircut at a proper salon this weekend and I'm now sporting a funky new hairstyle for christmas!

And of course, the highlight of my weekend, was the surprise party for Mr Kwek! I would consider it a smashing success though he did not look at all surprised when he walked in a saw all his friends there... We still had a good time listening to the snippets of Moses' life, as seen from the eyes of his friends.

It's a short work week this week! Happy! 0 comments

Down

Today has been one of those days, when I feel like I'm a plumber trying to fly a plane.

On a happier note, I can't wait for this weekend! I'm gonna be riding the waves on Saturday morning. Gonna pray real hard for good weather. 0 comments

Blog Find: Oh, hello friend

Today, I want to share with you one of my favourite blogs- Oh, hello friend

What I like best about the blog is that Danni, the blogger, is simply joyful and her joy is evident in all her posts. Oh, hello freind also features many beautiful handmade goods. Don't you think handmade goods are so much more precious and lovely? I do.

Check out her blog if you have the time. She also has a weekly giveaway and one is going on right now where you can win a pretty clutch bag! What better reason to make a visit.

Whizz Through the Weekend

Mr Kwek had been busy with his CFA and Church Camp for the last few weeks, so I finally got to spend some time with him this weekend.

This was Mr Kwek's first time pumping petrol by himself.

The most exciting event of the weekend. Mr Kwek bought me a bike! And a bright yellow Raleigh at that! Aluminium frame with Shimano gears and front suspension. We bought it from a neighbourhood shop in Hougang which is run by a lovely couple. They were really helpful and made sure the bike was in perfect condition before I took it home.
I finally fulfilled my dream of riding a bike to work today. Although I just realized that the ride here was easy cos it was downhill most of the way. Going back is gonna be tough... Erm...might not have been such a good idea after all...

My new pretty pink shoes. The only thing I bought during the JB trip.

The cousin and her two playful sons. They are on the plane back to France now. They next time I see them, they will probably be big boys speaking French.

Blog Find!

I stumbled upon another lovely blog today Green Laundry. I love finding such blogs which fill me with inspiration. The blog is filled with lovely images that make me wish I have great photography skills too. Melly from Green Laundry also likes lomo! She even has a tutorial on how to make a heart-shaped bokeh lense hood to make pictures like these. Lovely!

Whizz Through the Weekend

Last weekend was a long weekend with the Hari Raya Haji holiday on Friday. I love long weekends.

Spent the Friday with Mr Kwek. That's us at the beach. He was huffing and puffing as he jogs, while I glided along on my blades. It has been awhile since my blades saw sunlight.

Saturday was a day for the family. I woke up bright and early to try out a new baking recipe of Cranberry Tea Bread, which was given to us by my mom's friend. The recipe is at the the bottom of the post, if you are interested in trying it out. It turned out to be a lovely mix between a bread and a cake. Yum! As the Tea Bread was in the oven, my family tried our hands at redecorating the house, as we moved the computer out of the living room and put up the Christmas decorations. Sorry, didn't get pictures as I was busy moving stuff around, as dictated by the parents.
My mom, small boy and I went shopping after that, leaving the big boy n dad at home to do the heavy lifting. There was a peranakan fair at SMU which my mom wanted to go for. The stuff on sale were mostly the kebayas which were extremely beautiful, but also extremely expensive... all I could afford was a bowl of laksa.

Sunday was another beautiful day, as I went to visit my lovely neice! The last time I saw her, she was just learning to walk. Now, she's all grown up, babbling in her baby language as if we were carrying on a conversation. I wish I understood.

Well, that's a wrap for my weekend. Here's the cranberry tea bread recipe:

Ingredients
100g Dried Cranberries

2 cups self-raising flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup fine sugar
60g butter, frozen
1 egg
2/3 cup orange juice

Glazing: 2 tbsp milk + fine sugar

Sieve flour and salt into a big bowl
Cut frozen butter into flour, rub till it becomes a grain of sand
Mix in sugar throughly
Beat egg in a bowl and mix in organe juice
Pour into four mixture and stir well
Add cranberr and fold in
Pour into lined loaf-pan
Sprinkle with milk on batter
Sprinkle sugar to crisp top
Bake for 45 min at 175deg C

Picnik

A few posts ago, I blogged about the Poladroid, which made my photos turn into lovely polaroid shots. Then my friend introduced me to Picnik.

Picnik is sort of a web-based photoshop, where you can tweak your photo in almost any way imaginable, soften, changing colour, adding stickers, the list goes on. Of course they also have the polaroid function which I had to try out.

My verdict: If you want to edit/spice up your photos, Picnik is a cool, easy to use webiste that you can spend hours on. But if all you are looking for is something to make you digital prints look like Polaroid shots, I would still recomend Poladroid. It's fuss free and it has more of the feel of a real polaroid.

Hope you guys enjoy exploring Picnik!

Since I haven't posted in awhile, I'm making up for it today with several posts. Come back later!
