2010 Resolution

Sewing my own dress was one of my resolutions for 2010. And this was done just in time! :) 0 comments
Today, as I waited for my friend to pick me up, I noticed an old lady crossing the road. I noticed her because the traffic light had already turned green but all the cars could not go as she had not made it all the way across the road. I watched as she inched forward with each step. As she made it to the curb, she noticed me staring. Slightly embarrassed, I immediately diverted my gaze to something else. A few moments later, I looked back in her direction and she was still looking at me, or at least in my general direction with a strange vacant look. I contemplated going over to talk to her or ask her if she needed help. But before I could overcome inertia, indecision, and fear, my friend's car rolled up. And I promptly hopped in. I immersed myself in the easy banter on the car, but till now, remain haunted by thoughts of the old lady.

Note to self. Do not let such moments pass ever again. 0 comments

Suffering from Cognitive Dissonance

Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding conflicting ideas simultaneously. The theory of cognitive dissonance proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance. They do this by changing their attitudes, beliefs, and actions. Dissonance is also reduced by justifying, blaming, and denying.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16

As I make the biggest decision of my life so far, may I find mercy, grace n peace at the throne of grace. 0 comments
Hey everyone! How was your Christmas?
Mine didn't really feel like Christmas this year as I was involved in the church Musical and didnt really have time for many other festivities. I didnt even manage to do much christmas shopping :(

But I guess all the hard work that went into the musical was worth it, as we welcomed more into the kingdom.

Stark contrasts in characters.
There was a whole lot of siting around, waiting...

The FM at Fi's annual christmas party
Doesn't Mr Kwek look great in his bubblegum geek get-up?

Then there was the office party, organised by yours truly, who has become knows at the office social secretary.
I finally got my Glace Mont Blanc cake from my secret santa! Awesome gift!
And I made elve hats for everyone! The boys were just too un-fun to put them on.

2 days before Christmas, the office also decided that it was a good time to have a fire drill, so we took the opportunity to take photos on the lawn.

Looking back, my christmas was pretty great after all :)

Chronicles of Specky

After a tough week, I bought myself a pair of polka dotted spectacles to add to my collection of funky specs.
And it seems my specs are a hit! Everyone wanted to try them.  :)

Adventures on the High Seas

Ambassador's Cup 2010

The last time I went sailing was when I was 17, sailing the little 1-man Toppers. So when I was asked if I wanted to be part of the Ambassador's Cup team sailing a yatch, for course I jumped at the opportunity. We had a blast! I'm liking the Ambassador's life. 0 comments

Whizz Through Last Weekend

Last Sunday was Mr Kwek's birthday.
So I dropped by his church to give him a surprise.  :)

I also took a little adventurous day trip to Johor with PY and GH.
 Dining at a hawker street.
 Our favourite duck place. Mmmmmmmmmmm
On the bus that dropped us off in the middle of nowhere in Johor, 32 km away from JB!!!!

First blood

I had my first bike fall today. It has been almost a year since I started cycling to work, so I guess it's a pretty good record.
It was kinda scary falling flat in the middle of the road, but thank God I alive, with only a couple of cuts and bruises. :)

A man’s steps are of the Lord;
How then can a man understand his own way?

I tried my hand at making a chiffon cake yesterday. A little too sweet for my liking, but I think I like these light cakes much better than the heavy cupcake cakes. You can find the recipe here if you are interested. Really easy to make. 0 comments
