Foodie Confidential

I made these baked mayo prawns today. very pleased with myself :) simple but delicious.
1. deshell and wash prawns.
2. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of salt on
3. squeeze japanese mayo generously over the top
4. pop into oven  for abt 7 min or until the prawns turn a lovely orange/red colour depending on the size of your prawns.

I also baked happy cupcakes before the wedding on national day :)

Finally, the most awesome food find in awhile.....
Putu piring!!!!
The warm, soft and fluffy cake-like kueh was amazing. the gula melaka inside oozes out when you bite into it and it goes perfectly with the coconust shreds.
And we only decided to stop at the store because we were amazed at the long queue and immense number of awards the store had collected. Well worth the wait, and I think they deserve every single award.
Run by a very hard working family. Can u see the awards on the wall? If u wanna know where the store is, ask me :)

Whizz Through the Weekend

Hello friends! Monday was National Day in Singapore, so those of us here were enjoying a long weekend :)

Well I had a very busy weekend which began with the Family Day at the Zoo. Despite the pouring rain in the morning, the weather cleared up just as the lucky draw was over. Perfect timing! It has been quite a few years since my last visit to the zoo, so I had a pretty lovely time walking around looking at all the animals. Sadly, the animals didn't look too vibrant though. Like the poor white tiger only paced up and down the same 2m of his enclosure.
Sunday was my first full sunday at Moses' church, Bethany, in more ways than one. It started early in the morning with Sunday School, then stretched through the night as I helped to put up the decorations for Xian n Kathy's wedding the next day.
It took the 3 of us 3 hours to pin the backdrop to the wall. An immense effort.

National Day itself was spent at the wedding. It was beautiful!
Yup, clearly the colour theme for the helpers was white.

Hope you guys enjoyed your long weekend too!

Captivated

I'm blessed to have an awesome friend like Ms Yang who knows me really well. One day, for no reason at all, she bought me a book- Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul by John Eldredge and his wife Stasi Eldredge.

As much as I like reading, I have struggled with reading Christian literature. But Captivating was written in a light hearted and simple style. It was packed full of stories and examples, not only from the bible but from ordinary people living today. As I read it, my heart resounded with the words on the pages and I could not put it down. It opened my eyes to what God had put in the heart of each woman and how he will bring His plans for each one of us to completion.

This book blessed my heart and I really hope some of you guys pick it up as well (I'm happy to loan it to anyone who is interested).

Let me leave you with one of the many great quotes from Captivating.

Whatever your particular calling, you are meant to grace the world with your dance, to follow the lead of Jesus wherever he leads you. He will lead you first into Himself; and then, with Him, He will lead you into the world that he loves and needs you to love.

Quote of the day

There's always a little truth behind every "just kidding". A little knowledge behind every "I don't know". A little emotion behind every "I don't care". And a little pain behind every "it's okay"
